January 2022 - Sandy’s Treasures Monthly Newsletter

December Recap

December was such a blessed month for our team! We wrapped up the year with two amazing events that allowed us to give to others and spread God’s love during this holiday season.
We provided nutritious lunch and encouragement to just under 100 individuals! The event was such a hit, we decided to host a monthly lunch bag event! Lunches will be packed the third week of each month and distributed by the St Francis Seraph Ministries.
We also held our annual holiday celebration and pre-holiday workout that left everyone in the holiday spirit. Holiday music, kick elimination, and gifts were a great way to kick off the holidays. Our members received toys, treats, team gear, crafts, and so much more!
Special thanks to everyone who donated, supported, and helped with the gift bags. Each year will continue get bigger and better! All suggestions welcome!

Center Updates
2021 was a crazy year for us! We ended our 12 year stay at Oakley Rec and settled into our new space in Finneytown! We cleaned, painted, and renovated the center to create an amazing new home for our team. This month, we plan to move our efforts downstairs to finish the lower level with complete flooring, mounted tvs, student lockers, café area, executive office, exercise equiptment, and so much more. We look forward to bringing our new home to the next level and providing the best enviroment for our members!
If you have some carpentry skills and are interested in being apart of the renovation crew, please let us know. We have huge plans for our space this year! All feedback, suggestions, and décor ideas are all welcome! This is our home and we value your feedback! Fell free to see, call, or text any of your instructors to more.
Reminder: Please continue to take care of our home by disposing of trash, restocking empty items (soap, toilet paper, sanitizer), and making sure lights, HVAC, and faucets are completley turned off.
Don’t wait to be asked to pitch in, just do it! 😊
Health is Wealth
January is National Birth Defects Awareness Month.
This is a time to raise awareness about birth defects and highlight efforts to improve the health of those living with these conditions. Birth defeats affect 1 in every 33 babies born in the United States each year. Birth defects are caused by various factors such as genetics, alcohol use, poor living conditions, lack of nutrients, and more.
Here are a few tips for parents to help prevent birth defects:
1) Plan ahead
2) Avoid harmful substances and stress
3) Visit and Talk to your HCP about any issues, questions, and concerns
4) Get adequate nutrients, water, and sleep
Healthy babies= healthy communuties!

Outreach/Community - Save the Date

Our 1st lunchbag event was such a hit! We fed close to 100 of God’s people and it took less than an hour to pack! Bags were distrubted Downtown by St Francis Ministries and consisted of a sandwich, fruit, chips, dessert, water w/flavor packets, and some holiday words of encouragement.
It was such a blessing to do our part to help fight world hunger. So much, that we decided to host a lunch bag event every month! Service should happen all year round, not just during the holidays.
FACT: 1 in every 8 families suffer from hunger. Over 60% of that being kids!
